Hello,

i have to test a new server rented by server4you, i installed debian 7 minimal on it.
Than i installed Proxmox via this way:

http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_..._Debian_Wheezy

Here is the actual output of my current system

pveversion -v
proxmox-ve-2.6.32: 3.1-114 (running kernel: 2.6.32-26-pve)
pve-manager: 3.1-24 (running version: 3.1-24/060bd5a6)

vzquota: 3.1-2
pve-qemu-kvm: 1.4-17
ksm-control-daemon: 1.1-1
glusterfs-client: 3.4.1-1

I can connect to the web interface via "my.ip:8006" and also can login.

Ok than comes the first Error: "that i dont have an Subscription to Proxmox" ???

Ok i just ignored that first Error, and downloaded an Template of Debain for openVZ!

Next i tried to create an Container, and there comes the Problems: "I cant create an Container!!"

vzquota : (error) Quota on syscall for id 100: File exists
vzquota : (error) Native quota is already running for this partition.
vzquota on failed [3]
Creating container private area (/var/lib/vz/template/cache/debian-7.0-standard_7.0-2_i386.tar.gz)

i have tested with some container, everytime failed with code: 60!

When i check to see if there was a container created under /var/lib/vz/"root & private" there is no container ID!

Anyone an Idea?

VM Console and default screen size

I'm installing a few Windows 8 workstations and Server 2012 as VMs.

I can connect to them 'ok' using the console. However the default screen resolution is 'too small' - some of the install dialog is hidden to the right and below of the frame.

How can I change the default 'screen resolution' of the console window?

[SOLVED] SSH connection on Proxmox host suddenly slow

Hi Guys,

For exactly a week ago, I started to have some issues with my Proxmox host.

Suddenly SSH connection to the host was slow. It can take up to 30 secs before login. When logged in, everything runs ok.
I have a few webservers running inside KVM. Suddenly they also got problem connecting with MySQL from server to server.

Have you seen such behavior before?

I have googled it, and found that the issue might be hostname lookup. If I do deactivate hostname lookup inside sshd_config and my.cnf, then I can connect speedy Again - but isn't it weird that this issue suddenly appeared?
I have never deactivated hostname lookup in any environment - even though we are talking internal servers with internal host names (no DNS). But haven't had the issue before a week ago.

Hope you have some hints :)

Hi,

My server has two network cards. I want to connect the server two diferent network.
When I create new bridge (vmbr1) and set up gateway i get error message : Parameter verification failed. (400)

gateway: Default gateway already exists on interface 'vmbr0'.

It is possible what I want?

Thanks.

Proxmox and Imaging

I just imaged 30+ Computers using Proxmox 3.1 with OmniOS, (FOG and pfSense) KVM.
The images took about 9 minutes for 60GB. All the images were done at the same time. I don't think you can say Proxmox is not production ready.
May not be a big deal, but for 6 - 3tb Hitachi Drives, working in such a beautiful workflow, it sure enough makes me excited in all the right places.

This is my story... until the servers start smoking

ARC-12x4 support is missing

I just tried to install the latest proxmox 3.1 ISO but the kernels fails to detect my ARC-1224 controller. Looking at the source of the proxmox kernel it seems there is arcmsr.1.20.0X.15-110330.zip included but this release is missing support for the ARC-12x4 controller. Any change that the release arcmsr.1.20.0X.15-110330.zip will be included soon?

I will recompile the promox kernel tomorrow but it would be much easier if the current ARECA driver release will be included soon.

And thanks for the great product.

Missing local .iso files in web interface?

Hi - I just went to create a new VM on a proxmox server I installed several months ago, and was surprised that the .iso files I'd previously uploaded were not visible when trying to use an .iso image as a CD/DVD option.

I only use local storage, and no images are visible in the "Content" tab on local storage.

However from the command line, it looks as if the images are still there:

root@pm02:/var/lib/vz/template/iso# ls -al
total 1371972
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Dec 11 09:01 .
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Jun 11 2013 ..
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 715644928 Jun 12 14:25 ubuntu-10.04.1-server-amd64.iso
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 687865856 Jun 12 14:54 ubuntu-12.04.2-server-amd64.iso

I tried uploading an additional .iso, but it just times out. The VM I had previously installed on the PVE is working just fine, but am a bit perturbed that I am now unable to install others. Any pointers? Output from pveversion -v follows - thanks in advance

Mark

API Call - Get VM info

Is there an API call to get the load, RAM usage, bandwidth usage, et cetera for a KVM VPS? Either in a list for the node or on an individual VM basis. Either will work.

Remove one host from cluster...

Hi,

I have 1 little cluster, proxmox 2.1 based on 2 host (no HA).
I need to clean upgrade one host (the other one follow later).

So I move all VM on host1 and now I'm prepared to remove Host2 from the cluster and reset the server.

My goal is to install Proxmox 3.1 and move all the VM's on this new host (from a backup on a NAS) so I can format also the primary server (Host1)...

I'm reading now this guide: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Proxmox_VE_2.0_Cluster
and it seems very scary regarding removing host from a cluster, there's some other advice that must I follow in this procedure?
It is safe to remove one host from the cluster and then reset?

Thanks in advance.

No SPICE graphics card selectable in PVE 3.1

Hi all,

according to this document

http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/SPICE

I should be able to select the SPICE graphics card in a PVE 3.1 environment.
However, this device does not show up. Just the default, Cirrus, VGA and VMWare cards are available...

Do I still need the pvetest repositories in order to get it working or what else am I missing?

Cheers,

alex

New cron.d entry not working

$

Hi,

I created a file called cluster.cron in /etc/pve. Because of where it's placed, the file is duplicated to all servers in my cluster.

I then create a link in /etc/cron.d on all my servers to the file in /etc/pve. Just like the vzdump.cron file is done.

In my cluster.cron, I put:

* * * * * root date >> /tmp/date

basically every minute, put the date into a file.

The cron never gets executed. Any ideas what is going on?

I think something called OpenIPMI needs to be installed which it is but still not starting. :(

Im running Proxmox 3.1. Anyone got OM working with this version of Proxmox?
