Proxmox for developer workstation

Hi

I wan't to setup virtialization on my office laptop and by that run Windows 7 + Ubuntu virtualized.

I does however need for my host i.e. the debian/proxmox server to be able have a DHCP assigned IP instead of a static IP.
Is it still not possible to install proxmox with a dynamic IP address as described in this post: http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/884...nd-DHCP-server ???

I don't need to connect to my proxmox server from any other place than the same laptop which will run the server itself.

I'm considering to just install ubuntu or perhaps a minimal debian with LXDE desktop as a host system, in order to be able to run the host with DHCP assigned IP and then use KVM + Virtual Machine Manager for virtualization.

But with my initial impression of Proxmox, I would like to be able to use it instead.

If everything fails, and KVM is a bad option I have the possibility of phurcasing and using VMWare Workstation 9, but I have the impression that I might get better performance from KVM with VIRTIO drivers, am I wrong or right on this?

What's my options?

Thank in advance...

Regards
Anders Lange
