I am attempting to start selling VPS through my Proxmox host. I have a pretty mean server I built, and some backup space. I feel it will be sufficient. Plus, I am trying to help fund the Koozali Project ( http://contribs.org )
I don't know the first thing about VPS, and I know someone is thinking that if you don't know then you shouldn't start. Well, I have to start in order to learn.
These are my current issues I am researching:
1. How do I give access to customers?
2. It is apparent that OpenVZ should be used, but how do you process backups and HA with OpenVZ?
3. What issues do you have with current hosting providers? (I have learned that you don't have to put others down, just try and help make things better) Please don't bash any providers
4. I have looked into Billing Apps, but nothing is really compatible with Proxmox v3 (WHMCS and HostBill particularly), what have you done to work around this? Give customers restricted access to your Proxmox Dashboard?
5. With a VPS, does the customer need root access, or just some type of cPanel?
That's all the questions I have for now. Once I set things up, and start testing, I will be giving away VPS for testing and development of my workflow. These will be strictly SME Servers, depending on if it is possible to support KVM in this workflow, or if SME can be supported in an OpenVZ Container.
Please help, and don't bash me. Just trying to make things better.
