The correct way to remove a node from a cluster

Hello. I have a cluster with two nodes in it. I want to remove one of the nodes from the cluster and, ideally, remove the cluster setting from the main node altogether. I found this forum post in my attempt to figure out how to accomplish this, and I attempted to follow the instructions outlined in the documentation linked in the forum post, which basically says to login to the console of a node other than the one you want to remove, retrieve the id of the node you want to remove...
