Benefits and Drawback to using SR-IOV - The Basics

Having a new card that supports SR-IOV, and not knowing all the ins-and-outs.

I was hoping some of you that are using SR-IOV could outline some the benefits and drawbacks to using SR-IOV.

Any particular use cases could share would be appreciated.
