Kernel panic after upgrade

I've been running proxmox 8.0 since last year without any issues. I've used the GUI to update and reboot it a couple of times, also without issues. Last weekend I did the same and it's now kernel panicing on bootup. I have tried booting from the 8.2 rescue image and it does exactly the same. I've run memtest and don't get any errors there. I'm about to try the v8.1 rescue image to see if that makes a difference.
