Change default storage location

I have four nodes, each has 73GB for / (and currently /var/lib/vz).

On a couple nodes I have additional storage that I want to use and make that the default location for those nodes. Is there a proper way to do this, or should I mount the new directories to /var/lib/vz? If I do that, how should I handle moving my existing nodes?
