I issued the upgrade command from the GUI on my single node non-clustered system. The upgrade completed but I did get a lot of odd messages starting with 'Setting up pve-cluster (8.0.10) ... Reload daemon failed: Connection timed out' . It wont let me reboot from command line or IPML console. Plus there are issues trying to run commands from the command line. I don't want to do a hard reboot on this system with the upgrade just happening and with my zfs pools.

Hallo,

ich möchte meinen PVE 8.3 neu aufsetzen. Mich würden Meinungen bezüglich des Dateisystems interessieren.

CPU: 48 x Intel Xeon Gold 5412U (1 Socket)
SSDs: 4x 1,92 TB NVMe-Datacenter SSDs

Es laufen ein paar Debian 12- und ein paar Windows 11/Server 2022-Maschinen. Gerade bei den Windows-Geräten wirkt der Zugriff auf den Windows-Explorer recht langsam (alle mit VirtIO single).

Ich hatte mich damals wohl für ZFS RAID-Z2 entschieden... oder lese ich das falsch?

I want to run some benchmarks for a ghetto build and need some ideas from you guys.
I want to use some old hardware I have laying around.
The build will be installed in an offsite location with 10GBit. My goal is to reach at least 1GBit.

Unfortunately I haven't really found a lot of these benchmark results

I have a monthly backup of all VMs in my homelab. The backup works but every month one particular VM (Windows Server 2022, 128G Drive C, 4T Drive D, 16G RAM) hangs during the restart process and remains in a hung state.

In Task viewer I have the following error:



I would appreciate any guidance on how to diagnose the problem.

Hello,

I somehow broke my proxmox.
It was unresponsive, so I restarted the appliance and then it was worse

The web GUI loads intermittently but the content never does. (I get connection resets)
If I try to connect using ssh I get

I'm trying a software RAID1 setup with a Debian12 VM. My 2 disks have each

• a 1 GB partition, type Linux RAID, bound together as /dev/md0, for /boot
• a 1 GB partition for ESP
• a Linux LVM partition, bound together in one VG, providing LVs for root and swap

UEFI does not know about RAID1 for ESP, so /dev/sda2 is the "real" ESP on /boot/efi and gets synced to /dev/sdb2 on /boot/efi2.

Hi,

Has anyone successfully managed to replicate a Proxmox VE to a Cloud-based provider? The use case would be to have Proxmox running locally with the remote site being a DR site. The RTO / RPO are < 5 hours. The server hosts MS SQL Server and the amount of traffic is relativly low.

I would be interested in learning what providers others have used and how the topic was approached. I am Europe-based and would prefer, for GDPR and latency reasons a EU-based company.

Picture this: I’m on a LXC configuration page and want to see all the backups I have of this element. Currently, I need to go to the backup folder and manually select each storage available (and enabled or Backup operation). This allows me to see them but few at the time (assuming they were backed up in different places) so I miss the full picture.

Wouldn't it be a better/more practical idea to list each backup matching the element uuid looking automatically in all the storages configured...

Hello,
there must be something wrong with this, although I believe it should be working, it is not.
To my understanding, in PVE, I create a LACP-Bond to the switch, using Linux Bond. (802.3ad)
Then I created a Linux Bridge, which is VLAN Aware and bound to that bond0.
Then I give a VM that Linux Bridge, and tag it appropriately.
And that should be it.
However, the VM can't reach the switch.
On the switch itself I have tagged all VLANs, and set the VLAN 33 to PVID, so that I can reach the IP...

Moin zusammen,

ich habe am WE eine Windows 10 Maschine von nach Hyper-V nach Proxmox 8.3.0 umgezogen.
Alles funktioniert - jedoch sind im Task-Manager keine aktuellen Daten zu sehen - jedoch im Ressourcenmonitor

Und ja, ich habe alle Treiber installiert (virtio-win-0.1.266 + virtio-win-guest-tools.exe).

Was kann ich noch tun ?

Hallo zusammen,
ich habe zu Hause einen kleinen Cluster mit 3 Nodes, der für meinen Bedarf z.Z. sehr gut läuft:
- Node1: 24/7 hinter Switch1
- Node2: 24/7 hinter Switch2 (mit trunk an switch1 verbunden)
- Node3: Backups, 2 Std am Tag, hinter Switch2

Leider ist mit der Verbrauch zu hoch, besonders in der Zeit, wo so gut wie alles iddle läuft:
=> Ich möchte den Node2 (+ seinen Switch) nur noch nach Bedarf in Betrieb haben und nur Node1 24/7 lassen.

Ich möchte an eine VM einen USB-Stick mit einer Smartcard durchreichen.
Das Ding ist von Datev; stammt aber wohl ursprünglich von Kobil und nennt sich mIdentity.

Problem: Der Stick lässt sich an die Windows-VM durchreichen, taucht auch im GeräteManager auf.
Die zugeörige Software ist übrigens installiert.

im geräte Manager wird der Stick als einwandfrei funktionierend gefpührt; man sieh auch ein einen weiteren Eintrag mit 2x SmartCard, beide Einträge sind aber grau.

I have a Proxmox VE 8.2.2 with few VM and a Nakivo v11 Trial that support Proxmox platform. This Nakivo makes backups of the main VM which is a Windows Server.

This morning i found the Windows VM stuck in I\O error state. Impossible to stop or start the VM. After a forced reboot of the host i checked disks and space utilization and everything it's ok.

I investigated further and noticed that during the Nakivo full backup of saturday night, the "local" storage has reached maximum...

ich bin leider in Sachen Proxmox noch sehr unerfahren und stehe aktuell vor folgendem Problem.
Da ich mit einem Container im Rahmen meiner ersten Gehversuche einige Probleme hatte (durchreichen eines Conbee Zigbee-Stick) habe ich den LXC mehrmals aus auf ein vorherigen Backup-Stand zurückgespielt. Nun habe ich festgestellt, dass "local-lvm" des Proxmox-Host plötzlich ziemlich voll war.

Hello, for a very specific use case I have a debian LXC running virt-manager with 4 windows VMs.

In the summary of the LXC on the admin web console, it reports only 2.97% (974.54 MiB of 32.00 GiB) of RAM used.

whereas free -m in the LXC outputs:

total used free shared buff/cache available
Mem: 32768 25485 128 24509 31664 7282


And all tools like btop also report a usage of around 25G
